Karma

For proof that Karma exists, one might look to the last ten seconds of the IU/Minnesota game. Down two with time running out, Indiana's Eric Gordon drove the lane and was legitimately fouled. Gordon missed the first then deliberately missed the second. D.J White grabbed an offensive board and laid the ball in to tie. Great play, a little lucky, but it ties the game and sends it to overtime. Except that the referees call a phantom foul on Minnesota and give White a chance to win the game with 3.5 seconds left. Trust me, it was a call that never gets made.
White misses and the refs, with the game tied with 1.5 seconds left, call a loose ball foul against the Gophers with no chance anyone would ever have been able to get a shot off. You could watch that play unfold in 1000 games, and no one would call it. Ever. I hope every ref involved in the game is fired. White, on the line again, missed the first but made the second, seemingly stealing the game.
But then a funny thing happened. After a timeout, Minnesota pulled a Duke and hit a 15 footer off of a full court pass, except that the shooter wasn't a three time All American who hadn't missed a shot all game. Instead, it was a freshman who was scoring his 4th and 5th points. A right handed freshman who shot put the ball with his left hand. A decoy who wasn't really supposed to get the ball. I've never been so happy to see a team win a game I didn't care about. Ok, I care a little bit. I felt good for Tubby.

I felt great for Tubby. Really, I though the kids were going to wake up with my screaming. I think Tubby is a great guy and a great coach. Good job gophers! I hope you get in the dance.

The refs in that game were Bush league.
